When I spoke to Sebastian on an MSTeams call a few days ago, he asked about the concept of a digital twin for power distribution networks. In particular, he raised concerns about its practicality and usefulness given limited measurement points and ongoing changes to the grid.
Fortunately, GridData recently completed a project addressing these concerns. Depending on the type of power, data from reference PV systems (inverters) in many cases already provide sufficient insight into the grid loads for a larger area. Likewise, the data from a subset of the installed transformers is already sufficient to provide detailed network insights for operation and planning.
Curious? Why don’t you try it?
