Grid-Serving Control – Webinar Shows Practical Implementation

grid serving control - a theme well known

The control of flexible consumers in line with the distribution grid is becoming increasingly important in times of energy transition. The increasing integration of renewable energies into the electricity grid is creating new challenges – the generation of electricity is no longer constant, but fluctuating. This is where flexible consumers come into play. They can adapt their consumption to the fluctuating generation and thus help to stabilize the electricity grid. Targeted control helps to avoid grid overloads and increase security of supply. In addition, consumers can benefit from intelligent control by shifting their electricity consumption to cost-effective times and thus reducing their electricity costs.

Distribution grid serving control relies on efficient communication between consumers and the grid operator. Smart meters, energy management systems and other intelligent technologies enable precise measurement and control of energy consumption. Clear legal framework conditions and the protection of consumer data are of great importance in order to achieve broad acceptance of distribution grid control. Distribution grid management is an important step towards a sustainable and future-proof energy supply. It enables better use of renewable energies, increases security of supply and helps to reduce energy costs.

Suitable technologies for distribution grid control are already available today. One core element is a digital twin of the electricity grid, as provided by GridData with the DigitalTwin. The DigitalTwin automatically generates an up-to-date grid model based on current measurement data from the electricity distribution grid (PV, charging stations, heat pumps, etc.). This means that up-to-date information is always available for reliable grid operation despite high fluctuations. The high quality of the grid model has already proven itself in many installations.

An implementation of grid serving control with the GridData DigitalTwin was presented at the webinar “Flexibilization in the Low-Voltage Grid”. If you are interested, we would be happy to show you the function implementation in detail in a video or in person.
